Safe holiday driving

Our roads are exceptionally busy over the Christmas and New Year period. With people travelling to visit families and friends and others going on holidays there is more traffic on the roads. As a result there is a higher likelihood of a car accident happening. As such we ask that you take care on our roads. Remember to drive safely and take all necessary precautions.

Vic Roads have changed the road rules for our safety to try and reduce the road toll. The major change has been with the use of mobile phones. By using a mobile phone whilst driving it increases your chance of a motor vehicle accident by four times. Texting while driving increases the likelihood of an accident by 20 times. As such mobile phones are not to be used whilst driving except in the event of making and receiving phone calls. While making and receiving phone calls no body of the phone must be used. Learner and P plate drivers are not permitted to use a mobile phone at all.

We ask that while driving you are refreshed and take breaks during long trips. Do not drink and drive! Be patient, drive safely and arrive alive.
