When purchasing a new vehicle a warranty from the manufacturer will be included. A new car warranty is usually for 3 years or 100,000 kms, whichever is the lesser. You may be offered the option to take out an extended warranty at the time of purchase. Warranties are not only limited to new cars. A used car warranty can also be purchased and financed with your car. There are two types of used car warranties. A 36 month or 60,000 kms is available to cars that are less than 10 years old at the time of purchase with an odometer of less than 100,000 kms. There is also a 12 month or 20,000 kms warranty which is available for cars that are less than 12 years old at the time of purchase with an odometer of less than 120,000 kms.
